Leaving the social media behind

The vacation that we look forward to taking on an annual basis is important to our own sanity, not to mention the fact that it gives us a chance to improve our bonding with those around us. Keeping in touch with social media while on vacation is probably the last thing we should be doing. Whether we book one of these last minute vacations or we plan well ahead, it should be all about those we are traveling with. I can see the need to carry a cell phone as we travel, in fact I can even acknowledge that keeping up to date with who is sending us emails (for emergencies only) is probably not a bad idea. Planning our trip with the ones we love and then turning away from them as we board one of those economy flights, just reeks of bad taste.

Are we doing the right thing for our health

Living a healthy life can go a long way to ensuring that we keep our medical bills as low as possible. If we allow ourselves to stray from a decent diet then our health and fitness will surely suffer. It does not take much to do the right thing when it comes to treating our bodies the right way, all it takes is a little determination. Listening to the news on a daily basis, we see many people who are involved in  football, soccer, baseball and other sports take the wrong turn as they use enhancing drugs to help they become stronger in their game. Is this the right thing to do, I seriously doubt it.

Take me out to the ball park

If you are like so many other people today, you are likely very concerned about maintaining a standard of living that improves your health. A great way to get in some extra exercise and have some fun at the same time is with a Trampoline. This is excellent for outside in the yard where you can spend at least an hour working out the kinks as you take advantage of the weather conditions. I have never really been into sports and other than an odd game of baseball, the last chance I had to witness a sporting event would have been several years ago. As luck would have it I live very close to one of our major stadiums, but wouldn't you know that my close proximity has not facilitated any further visits to the ballpark.

All roads lead to Kentucky

I have never been to Kentucky, but from what I understand it is very laid back in that Midwestern state. If you are interested in the horses and your favorite pastime is placing horse racing bets then this could turn out to be one of your favorite states yet. Every year during the month of may, the horse betting begins with the world famous Kentucky Derby. 

Personally speaking, I have no idea how to bet, otherwise I might pay a few visits to online betting sites. Of course I would do it just for fun, because as you all know, I am not the betting kind of person.

Did you remember to turn on your alarm?

If you have an alarm system in your home it is important that you remember to engage it before you leave the premises. As you prepare for a vacation away from home and you get ready to leave your house to catch a flight, don't let the fact that you managed to secure an all inclusive holiday at a reasonable price throw you. A cheap holiday package to your favorite destination should not be a reason to forget to input your alarm code. The last thing you need to experience is a call from the police or a family member that your home has been broken into, but without that alarm turned on, you could be returning to an empty house, without any prior warning.

Where to go on our next vacation

The last thing we should have to be thinking about when we go on vacation is our safety, however, after the recent cruising disaster with the Costa Concordia you can be certain that holiday travelers will be looking very carefully into the cruise line they decide to sail. Other than the odd man overboard, cruises have kept their safety record for decades making a holiday in cruising one of the preferred methods of travel. With the recent sinking of a cruise ship you would think that our chosen holidays would be anywhere but a cruise, however, the incident does not seem to have fazed most die hard cruise fanatics.

Why choose war when there is peace

Most of us prefer to live a peaceful lifestyle, well at least I do anyway. I don't know about you but I hate drama, which simply means that if I have a problem with someone and the way they are living, (if it affects me) it is time to move on. The Nobel behavior of some people is usually reflected in the way they live, in fact there is nothing that would keep me around an individual who has to ask the question, “what is peace”? Rather than trying to initiate love and peace into the war that we seem to be constantly getting into, maybe we should learn the meaning of peace before we choose war as the alternative.

It is time to re-evaluate the things that influence us

It is difficult for me to imagine a world without any laws and directives, although we may be heading in that direction. Every time a law is broken, someone somewhere tries to have it changed. The media influence that we experience is changing our lives more than we realize, causing us to be forced on to a moving roller coaster ride, all in the name of selling a paper or a television spot. The social influence that is affecting this world is forcing us to re-evaluate the meaning of influence. Every area of influence is being attacked, from religious to the criminal, will there be an end to the madness?

Safety in our neighborhoods

There is no such thing as a perfect scenario as far as our borders go, but you would think that the powers that be will do what they can to make sure that we at least making an effort. With the highway patrol having the capability to intercept many in the area, we can always turn to them to help increase our border protection. We have a separate division that has been tasked to effect border patrol, yet they seem incapable (or unwilling) to do what it takes to keep those scurrying into the country as they take up residence north of the border. Is this the kind of protection we are satisfied with, or should we be demanding more.

Take a cruise around the Galapagos Islands

As you head south to the Galapagos islands you will probably think that you are getting ready to experience fun in the sun and a week or two of tanning in paradise, however, this could not be further than the truth. Shoppers will find that there is much for them to experience in the islands, especially if they are trying to purchase souvenirs to take back with them. Visitors are requested to avoid purchasing anything made from black coral, tortoise shell or turtle, as these are considered as a protected species and are therefore illegal.

War games are definitely not games

Our government would have us believe that the war in Iraq is now over and if you consider that the conflict we experienced in that country was as a result of a population too scared to deal with their own civil war, then I guess you already know that this was a lost cause from the start. Whether you believe that the conflict in Iraq was a result of weapons of mass destruction, or as a result of oil, we will not touch on that topic at this point (definitely later). The United States is in the habit of conducting war games to keep their effectiveness in the field and these activities can sometimes be confused with a war movie. It is not until we see pictures of war that we realize how final the Iraq & Afghan war has been for so many of its participators.

I don’t know anything about the life my sister’s leading but I’m just trying to be supportive. A few years back she moved to this reservation to get more in touch with her spiritual self and she’s been living in this tiny ranch house out there with her dogs ever since. She seems relatively happy but I just can’t relate because I’ve got all these kids and my parents and everything to think about so it seems really lonely and boring to me. I helped her look up Hughesnet FAQ so she could see about Internet (she needed to be able to online shop and order special food for the dogs) since she’s so far out of town. I like the thought of being able to email with her since she doesn’t have a home phone as of now and her cell phone service is terrible out there. I need to go visit but I guess it’s just tough since I really can’t relate to why my sister’s made some crazy choices!

Should we look for alternatives to pain medication

Unfortunately we have a greater percent of our population that have found themselves suffering with some sort of addiction. Because we are human beings we hurt for the slightest thing, yet as soon as things like back pain enter our life we end up being introduced to pain management.
